IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in parts of NE

New Delhi, Jun 15, 2026 : India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, Meghalaya during next six to seven days. According to IMD, parts of North East India and West Bengal will witness heavy rainfall today.IMD said that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into more parts of Maharashtra, some parts of Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and South Chhattisgarh during next four to five days.

The Weather Agency has issued an orange colour warning for thundersquall conditions over Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh today. The Met Department further predicted thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradeh and Uttarakhand today. Similar weather conditions are expected over Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu Puducherry, Karaikal, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

While Heat Wave conditions are expected over Marathwada, hot and humid weather conditions are expected over Konkan and Goa during the next two days.

For Delhi, IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky today. According to the weather agency, the maximum temperature will be around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in the national capital while the minimum temperature will hover around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius today.
