Manipur police warn against circulation of unverified and provocative social media content
New Delhi, Jun 14, 2026 : Manipur Police notified that certain individuals and groups are creating, sharing, and circulating unverified and provocative content on various social media platforms. In a social media post, Manipur Police said such posts contain serious allegations and have the potential to incite communal tension, disturb public order, and adversely affect social harmony.
The dissemination of such information may lead to misunderstandings, spread misinformation, and foster enmity between different communities. Members of the public are strongly advised not to believe, share, or forward rumours or unverified content and to exercise caution while engaging with information circulating on social media, the post said.
Further, the Manipur Police requested the public to verify the authenticity of any such content through the Central Control Room at 9485280419. It stated that the creation, uploading, publication, sharing, or circulation of fake, misleading, inflammatory, or any objectionable content on social media platforms will invite strict legal action in accordance with the provisions of law.
