First green pea harvest completed under project Hinichi in Manipur

New Delhi, Jun 12, 2026 : The first harvest of green peas under Project Hinichi has been successfully completed in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said that it marks a significant milestone in efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods and curb illicit poppy cultivation.

The NCB said that the project has successfully transformed 254 acres of land previously used for illicit poppy cultivation, and more than 124 households across the district have benefited from the initiative.

The alternative cropping initiative was launched in April this year under Project Hinichi by the NCB.
