IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Northeast India
New Delhi, Jun 11, 2026 : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a wet spell over northwest parts of the country till Saturday with possibility of thunderstorms with gusty winds and hail storm today and tomorrow. According to IMD, northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall and heavy rainfall over Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu during next 5 to 7 days.
According to the Met Department Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to experience thunderqualls, thunderstorms and hailstorms during the day. IMD said that there can be a gradual fall in maximum temperatures over northwest parts of the country by 3 to 5 degree celsius during 11th and 13th of this month and gradual rise by 2 to 4 degree celsius thereafter. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions will persist over West Rajasthan during the day.
