National award-winning filmmaker Bharathi Rajaa passes away

New Delhi, Jun 10, 2026 : Popular Director in Kollywood, Bharathi Rajaa, passed away in Chennai today. The 84-year-old director, producer, and actor breathed his last at his house. He was suffering from an illness for quite a long time. Bharathi Raja is well known for showing the rustic Natural beauty to Tinseltown. He was a towering personality in the Industry and had won six National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards and six Tamil Nadu Film Awards and created a new trend in the cinema Industry.

The Tamil entertainment world saw a transformation during his active years in the film world. Though he was a director, his films were talked about when heroes were talked about during his time. The music direction for most of his films was done by Music Maestro Ilayaraja. He was also known in the Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada film industries. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay paid his respects to the departed soul at his residence in Chennai. The entire film Industry in the state is mourning the loss of Bharathi Rajaa.
