India has the lowest price of cooking gas globally

New Delhi, Jun 07, 2026 : Indian families still buy cooking gas (LPG) at a much cheaper price than families in any neighboring country, and it is much lower than the prices in developed economies like the US, Australia and Canada. A beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) effectively pays Rs.642 for a 14.2-kilogram cylinder, while a typical consumer in Delhi pays Rs.942. In contrast, the supply cost of a cylinder has now risen to over Rs.1,600.
