Centre says no case of Ebola virus disease reported in India so far

New Delhi, May 27, 2026 : Centre has said that no case of Ebola Virus Disease has been reported in the country so far. Union Health Ministry said it is closely monitoring the evolving Ebola situation following recent outbreaks reported in parts of Africa. Sources said an individual with recent travel history from Uganda, who reported mild symptoms of body ache, was isolated at the State-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru for observation and medical evaluation. A sample was collected and sent to the National Institute of Virology for laboratory testing. The test result has returned negative for Ebola Virus Disease.

The Union Health Ministry, in coordination with the concerned State authorities, is maintaining close surveillance and implementing all necessary public health protocols in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines. The Ministry said it remains vigilant and fully prepared, with screening and surveillance measures continuing at all designated Points of Entry and across the public health system. Citizens have been advised not to panic, avoid spreading misinformation, and rely only on official sources for information.
