WEST BENGAL CM MEETS PM MODI IN NEW DELHI

New Delhi, May 22, 2026 : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first visit to Delhi after taking office earlier this month. He said the Centre had assured full support for the BJP-led government’s development and welfare agenda in the state.

In a post on X after the meeting, Adhikari said PM Modi reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to West Bengal’s progress and reiterated the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.

“This marks my first official meeting with the Hon’ble PM since assuming the responsibility of serving the people of West Bengal as the Chief Minister. I extend my deepest gratitude to the Hon’ble PM for his warm wishes and, above all, for his unwavering commitment to the progress of our state,” Adhikari said.

The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister assured all possible assistance from the Centre to help the state government implement its promised development initiatives and accelerate economic growth, industrial revival and youth empowerment.

The West Bengal CM also said he was confident that, with the support of the Union government and the mandate of the people, West Bengal would enter a phase of “double-engine growth”, transparent governance and holistic development.

During the Assembly election campaign, Prime Minister Modi had repeatedly said that the vision of a “Vikshit India” could not be realised without a “Vikshit Bengal”.

The BJP secured a sweeping victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, winning 207 of the 294 seats, while the Trinamool Congress was reduced to 80 seats. Adhikari later took oath as the state’s ninth chief minister.
