RAJNATH SINGH HAILS OPERATION SINDOOR AS A GOLDEN CHAPTER
New Delhi, May 03, 2026 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday hailed the armed forces for their “unmatched valour and indomitable spirit”, describing Operation Sindoor as a golden chapter in India’s military history.
Speaking at the ‘Shaurya’ event in New Delhi ahead of the operation’s first anniversary, he said the mission reflected the Narendra Modi government’s firm resolve to tackle terrorism through decisive action.
Paying tribute to the soldiers, Singh said their commitment to “Nation First and Service Before Self” continues to define India’s military ethos, from ancient traditions to modern operations like Op Sindoor.
He added that the role of the armed forces goes beyond the battlefield, highlighting their contribution as first responders during natural disasters, both in India and abroad, providing relief, food and medical aid in times of crisis.
The event also brought together art and patriotism, with prominent cultural figures including Anup Jalota, Kailash Kher, Harshdeep Kaur and Manoj Muntashir in attendance. Singh noted that while valour and art are often seen as contrasting domains, they are both powerful expressions of human emotion and complement each other.
Highlighting the emotional connect of music in the armed forces, the Defence Minister said marching tunes and military bands help unify soldiers, transforming individual identity into collective strength. Senior officials present at the event included Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth.
