Polling underway in West Bengal amid tight security

New Delhi, Apr 29, 2026 : In West Bengal, 39.97%. voter turnout has been recorded till 11 a.m. in the second and final phase of polling for the Assembly elections, which is underway across 142 constituencies. Long queues are forming in Kolkata, Howrah, and the 24 Parganas districts. Adequate security arrangements are in place to ensure peaceful voting, though there have been reports of isolated incidents, including an EVM malfunction in Baranagar and a BJP polling agent being injured in Nadia. The vehicle of a BJP candidate has also been attacked by goons at Basanti in South 24 Parganas.
