Gujarat local body polls underway

New Delhi, Apr 26, 2026 : In Gujarat, polling is underway for the local body elections across fifteen Municipal Corporations, eighty-four Municipalities, and over two hundred District and Taluka Panchayats.

Approximately 28 percent voter turnout was reported in Municipal Corporation Elections while 37 percent voting was recorded in Nagar Palika polls. Over 37 percent voters cast their votes for Taluka Panchayat elections while over 35 percent in District Panchayat elections till 1 PM. Morbi Municipal Corporation recorded the highest 39 percent voter turnout while Ahmedabad Municipal corporation reported the lowest 22 percent voting.

The State Election Commission has ensured extensive security arrangements across forty-eight thousand polling stations to facilitate a smooth voting process.

Polling will continue until 6 P.M. this evening, with the counting of votes scheduled for April 28th.
