IMD issues yellow alert for heatwave across multiple states
New Delhi, Apr 25, 2026 : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heat wave conditions today over parts of Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
The Met Department has also predicted heavy rainfall today over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. North Interior Karnataka is likely to experience thunderstorms and hailstorms till tomorrow. According to the Weather Agency, thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Marathwada,
Uttarakhand and Odisha. Hot and humid weather conditions will prevail today in parts of Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Gujarat, Gangetic West Bengal, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa and Manipur. As per IMD, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and parts of Uttar Pradesh will experience warm night conditions during the next 2 days.
