Amit Shah expresses confidence of forming next govt in West Bengal

New Delhi, Apr 24, 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence of forming the next government in West Bengal after the first phase of assembly elections. Speaking at a rally in Hingalganj, in North 24 Parganas, Shri Shah claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party is poised to win around 110 of the 152 seats in the first phase. He accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of corruption and misrule and promised to reopen the cases against those accused of atrocities on women if BJP comes to power.

The Home Minister also pledged to end practices such as cut money and nephew tax and vowed to deliver development projects within five years that he said had stalled for the past 15. He further alleged that vote-bank politics had allowed illegal infiltration into the state and warned of tough measures nationwide if his party is elected.
