Former Union Minister Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury dies

New Delhi, Apr 09, 2026 : Veteran Congress leader from Malda, West Bengal and former Union Minister Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury, famously known as ‘Dalu babu’, passed away yesterday at a private hospital in Kolkata. He was 88 at the time of death. His last rites will be performed at his ancestral home in Malda.

He was the MLA from Kaliyachok Assembly seat from 1996 to 2006. He was the MP from Malda Dakshin Parliamentary constituency and was the Union Minister of State of Health and Family Welfare at the time of UPA rule.
