PM VISITS TEA GARDEN IN ASSAM’S DIBRUGARH

New Delhi, Apr 01, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited a tea garden in Assam’s Dibrugarh, where he interacted with workers and lauded their contribution to the state’s globally renowned tea industry.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Tea is the soul of Assam! The tea from here has made its way across the world. This morning in Dibrugarh, I went to a tea garden and interacted with women working here. It was a very memorable experience.”

Sharing glimpses from the tea garden, the Prime Minister said, “We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hardwork and perseverance have enhanced Assam’s pride.”

PM Modi added, “The plucking of tea leaves was followed by the women talking about their culture and of course a selfie!”

PM Modi’s interaction with tea garden workers also reflects his personal connection to tea, often highlighted in his speeches, recalling his early life when he assisted his father in selling tea at a railway station in Gujarat.

Assam remains one of the world’s largest tea-producing regions, with districts such as Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Jorhat forming the backbone of the industry. The sector employs lakhs of workers and plays a vital role in India’s tea exports and regional economy.

PM Modi is scheduled to address multiple public rallies across Assam ahead of assembly elections in the state.
