Bangladesh–India Relations Can Become Even Stronger Than Before: Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon)

North East, Mar 31, 2026 : Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commission in Kolkata’s Press Secretary Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon), popularly known as Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon), has expressed optimism that Bangladesh–India relations can grow even stronger than before, emphasizing mutual trust and respect as the foundation for future cooperation.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at the 5th International Digha Art Festival, held from March 28 to 30 at Old Digha Sea Beach in Digha, Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon) addressed a commonly raised question about whether bilateral relations would return to their earlier state.

He responded by challenging the premise itself, 'Why should relations return to how they were before? Why can’t they become even better through mutual trust and respect?'

Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon) highlighted the importance of art, culture, and creativity in strengthening people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and India. He stressed that creative fields should always be judged by quality rather than quantity, underlining the deeper role of cultural exchange in diplomacy.

He also noted that policymakers in both countries increasingly recognize the value of cultural bonding as a powerful tool to enhance bilateral relations beyond political and economic frameworks.

The three-day festival witnessed participation from artists, competitors, and guests from various Indian states as well as international representatives, reflecting the growing global appeal of the event.

The International Digha Art Festival continues to serve as a vibrant platform promoting artistic excellence and regional harmony, bringing together creative minds from across borders and reinforcing the role of cultural engagement in fostering goodwill.

Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Tarique Choyon)’s remarks at the festival underline a broader message, that the future of Bangladesh–India relations lies not just in diplomacy, but in deeper cultural and human connections.
