Mamata Banerjee flags ECI’s sudden administrative reshuffles

New Delhi, Mar 17, 2026 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed dissatisfaction over administrative reshuffles undertaken by the ECI. In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Minister said that within hours of the Assembly elections being announced, the Election Commission removed top-level officials of the administration. Among those transferred were the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary, and the Director General of Police.
