Centre receives West Bengal’s explanation on protocol breach
New Delhi, Mar 09, 2026 : In the backdrop of the controversy relating to the breach of protocol during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit at the International Indigenous and Santhal Conference in Siliguri, West Bengal, state Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty has sent a report to the Union Home Secretary. Along with the report, several documents explaining the entire matter in detail have also been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the sources, the report outlined the sequence of events, the administrative steps taken and the reasons behind the decisions made in connection with the incident.
The report also provides a detailed explanation of why the Chief Minister was not present at the event. In addition, the Centre has been informed about the reasons behind the decision to change the venue of the International Indigenous and Santhal Conference.
Sources at Nabanna have claimed that the entire matter was handled in accordance with the administrative protocol and all relevant information and documents have been sent to the Centre.
It may be recalled that in the wake of the allegations of protocol breach during the recent visit by the President to West Bengal, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had sought a report from the state government.
