Election Commission to assess readiness for upcoming assembly polls in Kolkata

New Delhi, Mar 06, 2026 : To review preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections, the full bench of the Election Commission, led by the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, will visit Kolkata from the 8th to the 10th of March. The commission will meet the representatives of recognised national and state-level political parties on 9th March.

Review meetings will be held with IGs and DIGs of ranges, police commissioners, district election officers, and superintendents of police regarding election preparations. On 10th March, Commission members will meet senior administrative officials. Alongside review meetings with the Chief Electoral Officer and nodal officers of central forces, discussions are also scheduled with the Chief Secretary, the state’s Director General of Police, and other top officials.
