Tripura celebrates Dol Utsav with traditional enthusiasm and fervour

New Delhi, Mar 04, 2026 : Dol Utsav was celebrated in Tripura with traditional enthusiasm and fervour. The festival has been observed in the state since the royal era, and people from both tribal and non-tribal communities participate in the celebrations in keeping with long-standing customs.

People take part in the festivities with colourful Abir and Gulal, smearing one another with vibrant hues. Traditional Holi songs are also sung, adding to the festive spirit.

In recent years, the demand for natural and eco-friendly herbal colours has increased significantly across the state.

In Agartala, Dol Purnima is observed with religious rituals and ceremonies at temples, including the Jagannath Jiu Temple, ISKCON temple, and Lakshmi Narayan Jiu Temple. Devotees gather at these temples to offer prayers and take part in the Dol festival celebrations.
