Domestic solar module manufacturing capacity in country reaches 144 Gigawatt

New Delhi, Feb 11, 2026 : The domestic solar module manufacturing capacity in the country has reached 144 Gigawatt. Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi stated this while replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha. Mr Joshi said, earlier the Solar power generation was only six to seven Gigawatt and now with the enhanced capacity, the country is in a position to export it.

He said that during the Congress-led government, only 856 crore rupees were allocated for renewable energy over a period of ten years. Mr Joshi said, in comparison to it, over the past eleven years of NDA government, more than one lakh 27 thousand crore rupees have been allocated for renewable energy production. The Minister said, under the Green Energy Corridor Phase-I, the government has provided ten thousand crore rupees to states, while 12 thousand crore rupees were allocated under Green Energy Corridor Phase-2.
