PRASAR BHARATI LAUNCHES ‘CREATOR’S CORNER’ ON DD NEWS

New Delhi, Jan 10, 2026 : Prasar Bharati on Friday launched “Creator’s Corner”, a new segment on DD News aimed at providing a national platform to emerging digital content creators from across India. The initiative aligns with the Centre’s push to recognise and mainstream the country’s growing creator economy.

Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, who presided over the launch, said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India had witnessed transformative reforms across sectors over the past decade. He added that similar changes were now underway within Prasar Bharati, making 2026 “the year of major reforms”, including a restructuring of the Information & Broadcasting Ministry to make institutions like Doordarshan and All India Radio more creator-friendly and technology-driven.

Referring to the WAVES platform rolled out last year, Vaishnaw said it is emerging as a game changer in the Orange Economy and has enabled opportunities for one crore young creators, generated new employment avenues and contributed nearly ?5,000 crore in economic activity.

Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan said the initiative would empower creators from small towns and linguistic communities who are producing, editing and distributing content independently. He said Doordarshan would now offer these creators a credible national and global stage, in line with the government’s vision for strengthening India’s Orange Economy.

Information & Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said the Creator’s Corner initiative seeks to build a vibrant, responsible and inclusive ecosystem that recognises creators as full-fledged content producers. He added that while the segment will debut on DD News, it will be expanded to other Doordarshan channels. A dedicated prime-time slot, he said, would help creators reach wider audiences and bring new perspectives into public broadcasting.

Creator’s Corner will air Monday to Friday at 7 PM on DD News, with repeat telecasts the next morning at 9:30 AM. Each episode will feature four to six short videos across themes such as news, culture, travel, cuisine, arts, health, education, science, environment and entertainment.

Creators interested in participating can submit content via email or through the contact number shared by Prasar Bharati.
