Reports of harassment of SRO in WB

New Delhi, Dec 30, 2025 : In West Bengal, reports of harassment of Special Roll Observer C Murugan came to light at a hearing centre in South 24 Parganas district yesterday. It is alleged that Booth Level Agents 2 of Trinamool Congress protested when C Murugan came to the hearing centre in connection with the SIR in West Bengal.

Earlier on Sunday, Trinamool Congress general secretary and MP Abhishek Bandopadhyay told the party’s BLA 2 to attend the hearing centres across the state. The Election Commission of India declined permission for the BLA 2 to enter the hearing centres in the SIR process.

Reports of arguments between the personnel associated with the hearing phase and the Trinamool Congress BLA 2 came from almost all the districts of West Bengal yesterday.

In West Bengal hearing for the SIR had already started on Saturday.
