Maharashtra grants 1% reservation to orphans in education & jobs

New Delhi, Dec 06, 2025 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday described the state’s decision to grant one per cent reservation to orphans in education and government jobs as a “historic milestone”, calling it a significant push towards social justice and equal opportunity.

Speaking on the first anniversary of his government’s tenure, Fadnavis interacted with beneficiaries of the scheme, which was originally introduced during his earlier term in 2018. He said the initiative was guided by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s vision of ensuring equal access for all sections of society.
