Supreme Court rules illegal immigrants have no legal right in India

New Delhi, Dec 03, 2025 : The Supreme Court has said intruders and illegal immigrants have no legal right. The apex court said that a red carpet cannot be rolled out for those who enter the country illegally. A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi made the observations while hearing a habeas corpus petition yesterday, alleging the disappearance of a few Rohingyas from the custody of authorities. The Bench observed that the benefits and amenities should be concentrated on citizens of the country rather than on someone who has entered illegally. SC noted that illegal migrants cannot be subjected to custodial torture
