PM CHAIRS 60TH DGP/IGP CONFERENCE IN RAIPUR
New Delhi, Nov 30, 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired the 60th Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where senior police and security officials from across the country convened to review India’s internal security situation and outline the roadmap for strengthening policing in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “The first day of the DGP/IGP Conference in Raipur witnessed extensive deliberations on different aspects of India’s security system. This is a great forum to share best practices and innovations in this field.”
The three-day conference, being held from November 28 to 30 under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions’, is focused on key security issues including Left Wing Extremism (LWE), counter-terrorism, cyber security, women’s safety, disaster management, and the growing role of forensic science and artificial intelligence in policing.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the conference aims to assess progress on current policing challenges and establish a forward-looking framework for building a Surakshit Bharat. PM Modi will also confer the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service during the event.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs and IGPs of all States/UTs, and chiefs of Central Police Organisations are attending the annual meet. This year, Home Department heads of States/UTs and selected DIG- and SP-rank officers have also been invited to contribute operational insights.
Addressing the inaugural session, Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence that Naxalism would be eliminated before the next DGsP/IGsP conference. Citing progress made in recent years, he noted that the number of Naxal-affected districts has fallen sharply – from 126 in 2014 to 11 today – supported by the construction of 586 fortified police stations and sustained coordinated operations.
Shah said that the government has delivered lasting solutions to longstanding security issues in the Northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, and LWE-hit regions, and expressed hope that these areas would soon be fully aligned with the rest of the country.
