All arrangements put in place for second and final phase of assembly elections in Bihar
New Delhi, Nov 10, 2025 : All arrangements have been put in place for the second and final phase of assembly elections in Bihar. 122 constituencies spread over 20 districts will go to the polls in this phase tomorrow. More than 3 crore 70 lakh voters will decide the fate of one thousand 302 candidates, including 136 women. The voting will begin at 7 am and will conclude at 6 in the evening, except for 7 constituencies, where it will end at 5 pm for security reasons. Director General of Police Vinay Kumar said that, from a security point of view, the borders adjoining Nepal and the inter-state borders with Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand have been sealed, and regular patrolling is underway.
The operation of the Maitri Express train service between Jainagar, Madhubani and Janakpur in Nepal has been suspended till the completion of polling. The Election Commission has established a state-of-the-art Control and Command Centre at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Patna to oversee the entire election process. Similar control rooms have also been set up in all 20 district headquarters. To convey the message of women’s empowerment, 595 polling stations will be managed entirely by women polling staff, while 21 PwD polling booths will be operated by differently-abled personnel. Additionally, 316 model polling stations have been established.
In this phase, the fate of 12 cabinet ministers from the government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be decided. Veteran JD(U) leader and State Power Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav is contesting from the Supaul constituency. BJP candidate and State Industries Minister Nitish Mishra is in the fray from Jhanjharpur in Madhubani district. Former Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister Renu Devi is contesting as a BJP candidate from Bettiah, while Public Health Engineering Minister Neeraj Singh Bablu is contesting from Chhatapur.
Senior BJP leader and Cooperation Minister Dr Prem Kumar is contesting from Gaya Town for the eighth time as a BJP candidate. JD(U) leader and Minister Leshi Singh is contesting from Dhamdaha constituency. Science and Technology Minister Sumit Kumar Singh is contesting as a JD(U) candidate from Chakai in Jamui district. Congress State President Rajesh Kumar is contesting from Kutumba in Aurangabad, while LJP (Ram Vilas) State President Raju Tiwari is contesting from Govindganj in East Champaran district.
