INSPIRED BY OPERATION SINDOOR, WOMEN IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR MADE SPECIAL DIWALI LAMPS
New Delhi, Oct 17, 2025 : The impact of Operation Sindoor, the recent successful air campaign against Pakistan by the Indian Army, is now being felt during Diwali. Inspired by this operation, women associated with the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission's Umeed Scheme are creating special lamps that will not only enhance the festival's charm but also convey a message of patriotism.
The resounding success of "Operation Sindoor" instilled a renewed enthusiasm and pride across the country, the impact of which is now reflected in the handicrafts of these local artisans. Women from self-help groups under the "Umeed Scheme" are specially designing these lamps.
These special lamps feature designs and a vermilion color that reflect the spirit of Operation Sindoor. They also promote the "Vocal for Local" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" campaigns.
The women involved in this initiative say they are proud to be inspiring their products with inspiration from the country's glorious moments. The income from the sale of these lamps will also provide them with financial support.
Speaking to IANS, lamp maker Reema said, "We make and sell diyas every year. This time, we're making these lamps to honor our brave soldiers. We also dedicate these lamps to the soldiers who have protected the country and Jammu and Kashmir under all circumstances. Our armed forces are always ready to protect us."
Speaking to the news agency, Lovely said, "The special lamps we are preparing are intended to honor the courage of our soldiers in the recent Operation Sindoor. Pakistan targeted local people in our border areas. We are preparing these lamps in their memory so that they can be lit in every home to express our respect and gratitude."
