CIVIL AVIATION MINISTER LAUNCHES ALLIANCE AIR’S FIXED AIRFARE SCHEME
New Delhi, Oct 14, 2025 : In a step towards making air travel more affordable and predictable for passengers, Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Monday launched ‘Fare Se Fursat’, a first-of-its-kind fixed airfare scheme introduced by government-owned regional carrier Alliance Air.
The launch event was attended by senior officials including Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, Alliance Air Chairman Amit Kumar, and CEO Rajarshi Sen.
Under this initiative, passengers can book air tickets at a single fixed fare, which will remain constant regardless of the booking date – even on the day of departure. The pilot phase of the scheme will run from October 13 to December 31, 2025, across select routes, allowing the airline to assess its operational feasibility and passenger response.
Speaking at the launch, Naidu said, “The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme perfectly aligns with the core principles of the UDAN scheme. Today, Alliance Air is carrying forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of democratizing aviation and making it affordable for the middle class, lower-middle class, and neo-middle class.”
The Minister emphasized that the static fare model removes the uncertainty and stress linked to fluctuating ticket prices, ensuring cost predictability even for last-minute travelers.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to make aviation more people-oriented, Naidu said, “Since taking charge, my focus has been on making aviation more passenger-centric. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision, we introduced Udan Yatri Cafes offering tea for Rs.10, coffee for Rs.20, and snacks for Rs.20 at airports. Now, we’re addressing a major concern of passengers — airfare.”
Calling Alliance Air “the backbone of the Government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme,” the Minister lauded the airline for taking a bold step with its ‘One Route, One Fare’ model.
“It is truly ‘Naye Bharat ki Udaan’ – thinking beyond profitability and focusing on public service,” he added.
India’s aviation market typically operates on dynamic pricing, where fares rise sharply closer to departure. The fixed fare initiative aims to bring transparency and stability to pricing, encouraging more passengers – especially from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities – to opt for air travel.
The scheme is expected to boost first-time flyers from smaller towns, aligning with the government’s ‘UDAN’ vision of “Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik” – making air travel available, accessible, and affordable for every Indian.
As the pilot phase unfolds, its outcomes may shape future fare policies for regional routes, potentially setting a new standard in India’s aviation sector.
