IRCTC SCAM: LALU, RABRI AND TEJASHWI FRAMED FOR CORRUPTION
New Delhi, Oct 13, 2025 : Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday held a major proceeding in the IRCTC scam case. The court framed serious corruption charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav, among other accused.
The court said, 'There was a conspiracy of corruption in this case.'
The hearing took place in the court of Special CBI Judge Vishal Gogane, where all the accused, including Lalu Prasad Yadav's family, were present in person. The court stated that a corruption conspiracy was hatched in the case and that the accused directly benefited from it.
The court admitted that this conspiracy was hatched with the knowledge of Lalu Yadav.
The court acknowledged that the conspiracy was hatched with Lalu Yadav's knowledge and that his family directly benefited financially. The court stated that the land given to Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav at a very low price could be seen as a bribe in exchange for the awarding of IRCTC contracts.
CBI has presented the entire chain of evidence:
The judge stated that the CBI had presented a complete chain of evidence, and the court clearly saw that all the accused were part of a larger conspiracy. The court also stated that the accused's arguments failed to convince the court.
The arguments of the accused could not satisfy the court:
The court framed charges under sections 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code, 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and 13(1)(d) (obtaining undue advantage by abusing public position). Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav will face trial under sections 120B and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
After the charges were framed, Lalu Prasad Yadav said in the court…:
After the charges were framed, Lalu Prasad Yadav said in the court, “We do not accept the charges, we will face the trial.” Tejashwi Yadav also said the same, “We deny the charges and will face the trial legally.”
When is this case from?:
It's worth noting that this case dates back to the time when Lalu Yadav was the Union Railway Minister. The allegation is that railway catering contracts were awarded to private companies under the IRCTC, and in return, the Lalu family received land benefits.
The CBI filed a detailed charge sheet in this case, naming Lalu Prasad Yadav's family and others as accused. The next hearing date will be set soon, and the trial process is now set to begin.
