CROWDS OF DEVOTEES GATHERED IN KASHI FOR BATHING IN THE GANGA AND VISITING BABA VISHWANATH
New Delhi, Oct 07, 2025 : In Kashi, the city of religion and spirituality, a large crowd of devotees gathered on the banks of the Ganges on Tuesday to celebrate Sharad Purnima. Sharad Purnima was celebrated on October 6. According to the Hindu calendar, it is the full moon day of the month of Ashwin. This year, the full moon day began at 8:49 pm on October 6 and lasted until 9:18 am on October 7, 2025.
Early Tuesday morning, devotees bathed in the Ganges to earn merit and offered prayers at the Baba Kashi Vishwanath, Maa Annapurna and Sankat Mochan temples.

Gajanand Pandey said, "Bathing and donating on Sharad Purnima brings happiness and prosperity to the family. After bathing in the Ganges, we visit Baba Vishwanath. This time, due to the rising water level, the crowd is less; otherwise, there used to be huge crowds at the ghats every year."
The police and administration have made elaborate security arrangements at the ghats and temples.
Sanjeev said, "Kashi is a holy city. Coming here gives a feeling of divine bliss. I've been here since yesterday evening and I'm feeling very good."
