ENTERING 25TH YEAR OF LEADERSHIP: PM MODI RECOUNTS HIS JOURNEY

New Delhi, Oct 07, 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a historic achievement on Tuesday. He recalled that on this day in October 2001, he was sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. Expressing gratitude to his countrymen, he said that with their blessings and trust, he is now entering his 25th year as head of government.

PM Modi recounts his journey, struggles and achievements so far:

Prime Minister Modi recounted his journey, struggles, and achievements in a series of posts on the official 'X' handle. In the 'X' post, PM Modi explained that when he was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat, the state was grappling with crises like a massive earthquake, cyclone, drought, and political instability. He wrote, "My party reposed its faith in me during extremely challenging times. These disasters further strengthened my commitment to serve the people."

PM Modi remembered his mother's words:

PM Modi recalled his mother's words. He wrote, "When I took the oath of office as Chief Minister, my mother told me two things: to work for the poor and never take bribes. I also promised the people that whatever I do will be inspired by goodwill and a spirit of service to the last person in line."

PM Modi said- 'Gujarat is a symbol of good governance today' :

The Prime Minister pointed out that when he assumed the Chief Minister's post in 2001, the general perception about Gujarat was that the state would never recover. Farmers were struggling with power and water shortages, industries were stagnant, and agriculture was in crisis. But through everyone's collective efforts, Gujarat has today become a symbol of good governance.

'Maked Gujarat a leader in agriculture':

"Despite being a drought-prone state, Gujarat was made a leader in agriculture. The business culture was transformed into an industrial and manufacturing powerhouse. Social and physical infrastructure was strengthened," he wrote in the post.

PM Modi said, 'In 2013, he was made the Prime Ministerial candidate':

PM Modi recalled that he was nominated for the post of Prime Minister in 2013. At that time, the country was facing a climate of corruption, policy inertia, and a crisis of trust. He wrote, "The UPA government had become a model of corruption and nepotism. India was considered a weak link on the global stage. But the people of the country gave our alliance an absolute majority, and after three decades, a party received a clear mandate."

The country has seen many historic changes in the last 11 years.:

Prime Minister Modi said that the country has witnessed many historic changes in the past 11 years. He particularly praised the role of women power, youth power, and farmers who provide food. He wrote, "250 million people have been lifted out of poverty. India is now a shining star in the global economy. We have the world's largest health and social security schemes." He also reiterated the pledge for a self-reliant India with the slogan "Say with pride, this is indigenous."

Prime Minister Modi wrote, 'Serving the country is my greatest honour.':

Concluding his message, Prime Minister Modi wrote, "Serving the nation is my greatest honor. This responsibility fills me with gratitude and a sense of purpose. With the values of the Constitution as my guide, I will work even harder to realize the dream of a 'developed India."'
