SITUATION ON INDO-NEPAL BORDER IS BECOMING NORMAL
New Delhi, Sep 14, 2025 : After the recent formation of the interim government in Nepal, the situation on the India-Nepal border has gradually started becoming normal. On Saturday, passenger vehicles, cars, motorcycles, pedestrians and cargo trucks were seen passing through the Rupaidiha border. A large number of business trucks entered Nepal, which has given a boost to business activities. However, the movement of common citizens still seems to be limited.
However, security agencies are on full alert at the border checkpoints and every citizen and vehicle is being constantly monitored. According to reports, the situation is much calmer than before and it is expected that normal life will be completely restored in the coming days.
The recent massive “Gen-G” protests in Nepal shook the country. The movement started when the government banned several social media platforms. But soon the movement turned into a big mass movement against issues like corruption, political nepotism, economic inequality and unemployment among the youth.
Online platforms like 'Discord' played an important role in organizing this movement. Soon thousands of youth took to the streets. The movement turned into violent clashes in which many people died and many properties including government buildings and offices of political parties were damaged.
Amid growing pressure and incidents of violence, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had to resign. After this, there was a major change in Nepal's politics and former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was appointed interim Prime Minister. After the formation of the new government, the situation now seems to be stabilizing. Business is getting back on track and the business class has heaved a sigh of relief. However, there is still some hesitation regarding the movement of common citizens.
