INDIA IS KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE DEVELOPMENTS IN NEPAL

New Delhi, Sep 09, 2025 : On the recent developments in Nepal, India has asked all concerned parties to exercise restraint and resolve any issue through peaceful means and dialogue. It has also appealed to Indian citizens in the neighbouring and friendly country Nepal to exercise caution.

India's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that we are closely monitoring the developments in Nepal since yesterday and are deeply saddened by the loss of lives of many young people. Our condolences and prayers are with the families of the deceased. We also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “As a close friend and neighbour, we hope that all concerned parties will exercise restraint and resolve any issues through peaceful means and dialogue. We have also noted that the authorities have imposed curfew in Kathmandu and several other cities in Nepal.

The Ministry has advised Indian nationals in Nepal to exercise caution and follow the measures and guidelines issued by the Nepalese authorities.

It is worth noting that after the 'Gen-G' protest against the ban on social media in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, the police made tight security arrangements on Tuesday. A large number of police forces have been deployed at every sensitive place, who are keeping an eye on every activity and ensuring that no unpleasant situation arises.

In fact, on September 4, the government in Nepal banned 26 platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X. The reason given for this was that these companies could not register in Nepal and anti-national activities are being carried out from fake accounts. At the same time, the youth considered it an attack on freedom of expression. Thousands of youths took to the streets in Maitighar Mandala, Baneshwar and Singhadurbar areas of Kathmandu. The Kathmandu district administration imposed curfew around the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Prime Minister's residence. The army was deployed in several cities. The injured are being treated at Kathmandu Medical College and Everest Hospital.
