India’s postal system the world’s largest doorstep banking network

New Delhi, Sep 04, 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s postal system is now the world’s largest doorstep banking network, ensuring dignity and empowerment. Responding to a post by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mr Modi said, with unprecedented efforts from the government, the country’s humble postman has become the harbinger of financial inclusion.

Mr Scindia has said that India Post Office and India Post Payments Bank have redefined one of the world’s oldest postal networks into the globe’s largest doorstep banking system. He said, the India Post Payments Bank is bringing access, assurance, and aspiration directly to the doorsteps of 140 crore people.
