DELHI CM REKHA GUPTA HOLDS ‘JAN SUNWAI’ AMID TIGHT SECURITY

New Delhi, Sep 03, 2025 : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday resumed her ‘Jan Sunwai’ programme at her Civil Lines camp office, almost two weeks after the physical assault on her, amid heightened security measures.

A large number of city residents attended the public hearing to present grievances and seek the Chief Minister’s intervention. The programme saw heavy deployment of police and security personnel, who formed a protective ring around the CM. A table separated her from the visitors, who submitted their complaints one by one.

Security protocols included metal detector checks and CCTV monitoring throughout the event. The programme began at 8 a.m., attracting citizens from across the national capital.

Speaking to the media, some attendees shared the nature of their grievances and the assistance they received. One resident, who is physically disabled, said, “I approached the Chief Minister seeking a government job, as it would greatly improve my situation.” Another citizen, a freedom movement participant, said, “I have not received any benefits despite being part of India’s independence struggle. The Chief Minister assured me that I will get my pension.”

The ‘Jan Sunwai’ programme had been suspended following the August 20 attack on the CM.

Sharing pictures from the event on X, Gupta said, “Today, during the public hearing, I met citizens from various parts of the capital and listened to their suggestions and problems. Dialogue with the public always gives me new energy and deepens my dedication to service. Public hearing is a new culture of service. The resolve of the Delhi government is to give topmost priority to public service and provide swift solutions to every citizen.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi CM also visited flood-affected areas and relief camps near the Geeta Colony flyover to assess the situation after the Yamuna reached near the danger mark. She interacted with families in the camps, heard their concerns, and assured them of the government’s full support.
