FREE SURGERY CAMPAIGN STARTED FOR BURN PATIENTS IN AIIMS DELHI
New Delhi, Aug 21, 2025 : The Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi will provide free surgery to patients suffering from burn scars and skin shrinkage in collaboration with Rotaplast International and Rotary Club Restoring Smiles of America. Department head Dr. Manish Singhal gave information about this campaign on the occasion of the start of the training camp on Wednesday.
80 medical staff of AIIMS participated in the training
Dr. Singhal said that a team of 10 experts from America and one from Philippines from Rotaplast International will train the doctors, nurses and operation theatre staff of AIIMS for the next 10 days. 80 medical staff of AIIMS are participating in this training.
126 burn patients were registered for this campaign
126 burn patients from across the country were registered for this campaign, out of which 51 patients were found fit for surgery. All these patients will be given free surgery in the coming 10 days. Also, AIIMS is trying to develop this type of surgery as a model so that world-class treatment can be made available to patients in villages and small towns as well.
Big initiative towards skin bank
Rotary Club officials said that there was no skin bank facility in North India, for which a big project has been started in collaboration with AIIMS. According to officials, after surgery, patients face problems in skin establishment. Due to skin damage, patients are not able to live a normal life in society. This initiative has been started to help such patients and bring back their confidence in life.
This campaign will now gradually be extended to other small cities of the country as well
This campaign which started from AIIMS Delhi will now gradually be taken to other small cities of the country so that burn patients can get better and modern treatment.
This step will not only give new hope to burn patients but will also bring a big change in the field of burn care and reconstructive surgery in the country in the times to come.
