IMPORTANT TALKS TOOK PLACE BETWEEN NSA AJIT DOVAL AND CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER
New Delhi, Aug 19, 2025 : National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Tuesday met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi and held the 24th round of Special Representatives (SR) talks on India-China border issues. Wang Yi arrived in India on Monday on a two-day visit.
Bilateral issues discussed
Let us tell you that in this meeting, border tension, trade, restoration of flight services and other bilateral issues were discussed. Regarding this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that this visit will help implement the consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, increase high-level exchanges, strengthen mutual trust and manage differences. Chinese Ambassador to India Shu Feihong also underlined the importance of this visit.
Met Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Monday:
Earlier on Monday, during Wang Yi's meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Jaishankar stressed the need for peace and stability in the border areas. He said, "The basis of progress in our relations is peace and harmony on the border. It is important to move forward the process of reducing tensions." Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials were present in this meeting.
Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the need for stability in the global economy, fight against terrorism and a multipolar world order. They also discussed issues such as economic-trade cooperation, pilgrimages, people-to-people contacts, river data sharing and border trade. He said, "We have to move forward on the basis of mutual respect, sensitivity and interests so that differences do not become disputes."
Mentioned China's cooperation during India's chairmanship of SCO:
The External Affairs Minister noted China's support during India's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and informed about Prime Minister Modi's participation in the SCO Summit to be held in Tianjin from 31 August to 1 September. He wished Wang Yi a successful summit.
Dr. S. Jaishankar said, "Our discussions will contribute to making India-China relations stable and cooperative, which will meet the interests of both the countries and address the concerns."
