NALSA to provide free legal aid to ex-servicemen and their families, to launch new scheme in J&K
North East, Jul 24, 2025 : The National Legal Service Authority (NALSA) is all set to launch a new scheme to provide free legal aid to ex-servicemen and their families . This new scheme will be announced with all details and implementation protocols in a regional conference scheduled to come off in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on July 26 and 27. The new scheme will be known as ‘NALSA Heroic Family Assistance Scheme’ envisaging free legal aid to ex-servicemen and their family members.
The member-secretary of the state legal service authority Jhuma Datta Chowdhury has informed all concerned in a statement that for implementation of the new scheme a legal service clinic has been established in the office of the ‘Sainik Board’ at Agartala as the first step to enable implementation. A former jawan of the Indian army will act as the ‘Adhikar Mitra’ in this clinic. It has also been stated by Jhuma Datta Chowdhury that the NALSA chairman Justice (retired) Surjya Kanta will virtually inaugurate the legal service clinics in all the states during the upcoming regional conference in Jammu and Kashmir.
The state legal service authority will also organise a legal awareness camp at the time of the virtual inauguration of the legal service clinic in the office of the state ‘Sainik Board’. The member-secretary Jhuma Datta Chowdhury has requested all concerned to attend the awareness camp as well as inauguration of the clinic.
