Major Haul of Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Coordinated Operations by Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and Security Forces

North East, Jul 05, 2025 : In a major breakthrough, security forces in Manipur have recovered a massive cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during coordinated search operations conducted across multiple hill districts from the midnight of July 3 to the morning of July 4, 2025.

Acting on precise intelligence inputs, joint teams comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles/Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) launched simultaneous operations in the interior areas and suspected locations of Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur districts.

The extensive search efforts led to the recovery of 203 weapons and a substantial quantity of ammunition and explosives. The seized arms include: 21 INSAS rifles, 11 AK series rifles, 26 SLRs, 2 sniper rifles, 3 carbines, 17 .303 rifles, 2 51 mm mortars, 2 MA assault rifles, 3 M79 grenade launchers, and several other firearms including pistols, breech-loaded and bolt action guns, country-made weapons, and 38 Pompi guns.

In addition, the forces seized: 30 IEDs, 10 grenades, 9 Pompi shells, and various types of live ammunition including 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm rounds.

This well-coordinated, intelligence-driven operation marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts by the Manipur Police and allied forces to combat illegal arms proliferation and restore peace and stability in the region.

The Manipur Police has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity or information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.

Senior officials confirmed that more such targeted operations will continue in a focused manner in the coming days.
