Despite the preponderance of ethnic polarization at the state level politics by major players in the most ancient social game, humanity often gets the better of extraneous considerations. This is what was proved by a noble and heart-warming gesture of motor vehicle owners and drivers of various vehicles at the busy Nager Jala motor stand today when all other cosiderations were thrown aside to help a hapless tribal girl student .

According to details of the case available from eye-witness accounts , Meena Jamatya (20), a young student of Amarpur currently studying in Kazi Nazrul Islam college in Nadia district of West Bengal, had arranged Rs 15,500.00 as semester fee of the college through sale of domestic ducks, chickens and other household things by her parents. Meena had left her home in Amarpur this morning by a bus to reach Agartala and then go onward to West Bengal. She had a total amount of Rs 15.800.00 in her purse. As the bus reached the front side of Tripura Central University (TCU) Meena was asked by the conductor to pay her fare and she did so by opening her purse kept in a larger bag. This was seen by an elderly passenger seated by her side in the bus and what happened later was devastating for the simple girl.

After getting down at Nager Jala bus stand Meena found that her purse containing her entire money had gone missing and she broke down in tears, sitting on the spot. Finding herself all at sea she contacted the bus and other vehicle owners and drivers in the syndicate, profusely crying and told them her woes.Convinced of the genuineness of her case and helpless condition the vehicle owners assured her that they would help her and she would be able to pay up her college semester fee. The owners and drivers seated in the syndicate office immediately fanned out , sounding an alert and within no time they collected the amount lost by hapless Meena . They handed over the entire amount including an amount for her personal expenses to Meena who had been seated in the syndicate office. Meena practically got a new lease of life after being so generously helped by the vehicle owners and drivers and expressed her gratitude for their magnanimity . The bus and other vehicle owners and drivers said that they had considered it a humanitarian duty to help a really hapless girl and that is why they had taken the initiative.
