The minister for transport, food and civil supply and tourism Sushanta Chowdhury today asserted that the BJP will make a clean sweep of all the Wards in Ranir Bazar and Jirania Nagar Panchayats in the upcoming election slated to come off on November 27. He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a huge rally of BJP candidates, workers and supporters who had headed for the SDM (Jirania) office to file nomination papers on the scheduled last day today. It was a huge and colourful rally that moved from different areas under Jirania subdivision before converging on the office of the SDM (Jirania) Animesh Dhar.
Sources said that hundreds of men and women in colourful attires had taken part the rally which was led by all 13 candidates for as many Wards under the Ranir Bazar Nagar Panchayat with the minister Sushanta Chowdhury in the forefront. Even while on the March Sushanta took time off to speak to the media persons walking side by side. He asserted that, going by the response of the people and their enthusiasm he was sure that BJP would make a clean sweep of all the Wards in Ranir Bazar and Jirania Nagar Panchayats , nominations for which were filed yesterday. Sushanta alo dismissed allegations of Congress and CPI (M) regarding strong-arm tactics used by BJP to prevent them from filing nomination as ‘totally baseless and fabricated’. “The Congress and CPI (M) have hardly any support among the voters in these two Nagar Panchayats areas and are unable even to find candidates ; their whining and wailing therefore mean nothing” said Sushanta . He added that BJP candidates will win all the 13 Wards of Ranir Bazar and all the 11 Wards of Jirania Nagar Panchayats .
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress and CPI (M) have not yet been able to file even a single nomination paper in the 15-Ward Mohanpur Nagar Panchayat and the Ranir Bazar and Jirania Nagar Panchayats. Earler the PCC president Asish Kumar Saha had clearly said that Congress and CPI (M) candidates would not be able to file nomination papers in Mohanpur, Jirania, Ranir Bazar, Kamalpur and Santir Bazar Nagar panchayats and municipal councils. With the last day of nomination filing ending today the fear expressed by PCC president Asish Kumar Saha seems to be coming true.
