The Office of the Medical Superintendent and Head of Department of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital has issued a second reminder directing Heads of Departments (HODs), specialist doctors, faculty members and senior resident doctors to strictly comply with prescribed duty rosters and ensure their presence in outpatient departments (OPDs), hospital wards and emergency services.

The memorandum, digitally signed by Medical Superintendent and HOD Dr. Bidhan Goswami on November 4, 2026, reiterates earlier instructions issued on December 26, 2024, followed by a subsequent reminder on March 21, 2025. The latest communication indicates that the hospital authorities have again found it necessary to remind concerned medical personnel about compliance with their assigned duties.

According to the memorandum, all HODs and in-charge HODs of the concerned clinical departments must remain present in their respective OPDs from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, strictly according to the approved duty roster.

Similarly, specialist doctors, faculty members and senior residents of clinical departments have been instructed to remain present in their respective hospital wards every day from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Senior Resident doctors must continue their ward duties from 10:00 PM until 9:00 AM the following morning, positively, as specified in the approved duty roster.

The memorandum has also laid down specific instructions regarding emergency medical services during night hours. If any patient requires the services of an on-call doctor, the doctor on duty must contact the concerned on-call doctor and make an appropriate doctor call through the IDRS App. In case the on-call doctor fails to attend, the matter must be brought to the notice of the undersigned the following morning without fail.

In another important direction, all concerned clinical department unit in-charges, specialist doctors, faculty members and PGTs have been instructed to ensure that rounds of their respective wards and units are conducted twice daily, in the morning and evening.

The hospital authorities have further directed all HODs and in-charge HODs to submit departmental duty rosters, including the names of on-call doctors, to the Medical Superintendent's office during the first week of every month without fail.

The memorandum makes it clear that despite earlier instructions and reminders, the authorities are once again reiterating the need for strict adherence to the prescribed arrangements. Any deviation or non-compliance with the instructions will be viewed seriously, and responsibility will be fixed accordingly.
