In a significant organisational development, Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has declined to join the newly constituted Central Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest organisational body, despite reportedly strong demands from several senior leaders for his inclusion.

The decision has drawn considerable attention within the party, particularly as Tipra Motha seeks to strengthen its organisational structure and prepare for upcoming political challenges in Tripura. While several senior leaders reportedly wanted Pradyot’s name included in the committee, the party founder chose to remain outside its formal composition, while assuring his continued guidance to the State and its people.

According to an organisational appointment notice issued by party president BK Hrangkhawl on November 3, the Central Working Committee has been officially constituted with immediate effect.

The newly formed eight-member CWC comprises BK Hrangkhawl, Jagadish Debbarma, Brishaketu Debbarma, Ranjit Debbarma, Purna Chandra Jamatia, Ratish Tripura, Paul Dangshu and Keneram Reang.

The committee is expected to play a crucial role in overseeing the party’s organisational affairs, political strategy and key decisions. Its composition marks an important step in Tipra Motha’s efforts to consolidate its organisational machinery and strengthen coordination among its leadership.

The party has also included three invitee members by virtue of their positions: the President of the TIPRA Youth Federation (TYF), the President of the TIPRA Women Federation (TWF), and the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Pradyot’s decision to stay out of the CWC has nevertheless emerged as the most notable aspect of the announcement. His refusal has prompted questions about whether he intends to create greater space for other leaders to assume organisational responsibilities or prefers to continue guiding the party without holding a formal position in its highest committee.

No official explanation has been provided regarding his specific reasons for declining the position.
