The annual Deepavali festival at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur is expected to draw around 10 lakh devotees and visitors this year, with the Gomati district administration stepping up preparations to manage the anticipated gathering.
The celebrations will feature a drone show, cultural programmes and decorative illumination, while priests arriving from Varanasi will perform the Mangal Aarti, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather said on Monday.
Lather visited the temple complex and adjoining areas to review the arrangements. He was accompanied by Matabari RD Block BDO Arijit Pal, Gomati Zilla Parishad Deputy Sabhadhipati Sujan Sen and officials from various departments.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate assessed the preparedness of different departments, including arrangements at the temple premises and the adjoining fairground, in view of the expected influx of visitors.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Lather said the administration was taking necessary steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival and fair. He said arrangements were being made keeping in mind the estimated footfall of around 10 lakh people.
The annual Deepavali celebrations at Matabari are among the major religious events in Tripura, attracting devotees from different parts of the state and beyond. This year's combination of traditional rituals, cultural performances, illumination and a drone show is expected to add to the festival's attractions.
