The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have appealed to the people of Tripura not to immerse idols of Hindu deities along roadsides or at unauthorised locations, urging devotees to conduct idol immersion (Bisarjan) only at designated places to preserve the sanctity of religious traditions and maintain public cleanliness.

The appeal was made during a programme titled ‘Bhavya Murti Visarjan’, organised jointly by VHP and Bajrang Dal at Panchabati Bazar in the Purba Prakhand area of Aralia, Agartala, on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, the organisers expressed concern over the practice of installing and immersing idols of Hindu deities along roadsides, at street corners and in other unsuitable public locations. They said such practices undermine the dignity of religious worship and may also create inconvenience for commuters and local residents.

The organisers emphasised that idols represent the faith, devotion and spiritual traditions of the Hindu community and should be treated with due reverence. They appealed to devotees to ensure that idol immersion takes place only at designated sites and in accordance with established religious and civic guidelines.

The programme also highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and promoting responsible religious observance.

Among those present were Badal Das, Purba Prakhand Sanyojak of Bajrang Dal; Arghyadeep Pal, Purba Prakhand Bal Upasana Kendra Pramukh of Bajrang Dal; Shubhankar Biswas, West District Sah-Sanyojak; and Ward No. 26 Councillor Shilpi Dewan Das. Several other VHP functionaries and activists also attended the programme.

The organisers called upon the people of Tripura to support the appeal and ensure that religious practices are conducted with dignity, responsibility and respect for public spaces.
