State election commission announce the civic poll schedule, elections on 27th November , counting on 2nd December

The state election commission today has issued notification for the statewide civic elections to 21 civic bodies across the state including the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). In an interactive session with the media in the office of the state election commission , the election commissioner Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said that the process of filing nomination by candidates will commence from tomorrow, the 31st October and end on November 6.

The state election commissioner Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on November 7 and the candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations till the date of 10th November. According to the schedule notified the election to the 21 civic bodies across the state will come off on November 27 from 7-00 AM to 4-00 PM.

“ If warranted by circumstances repoll in any ward will come off on November 30; the counting of votes for election will commence from 8-00 AM on December 2 while the entire electoral process will end on December 4” said P.K.Chakraborty. Replying to queries from media persons the state election commissioner said that adequate security measures will be put in place by the commission to ensure a free and fair election so that all eligible electors can their votes smoothly and fearlessly.
