A series of changes in the appointments of Morcha in-charges within the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised questions about organisational consistency, leadership decisions and the party’s internal coordination. Three appointment orders issued over a period of roughly two months have brought the party’s organisational management under scrutiny, with questions emerging over why the responsibilities of several senior leaders have been repeatedly reshuffled.
The latest appointment order, dated October 27, 2026, issued by BJP Tripura Pradesh president Abhishek Debroy, has renewed the debate. The changes have prompted questions within political circles about whether the repeated reshuffling reflects a planned organisational strategy or uncertainty over the allocation of responsibilities.
The central question being raised is straightforward: Why has the party changed its Morcha in-charges repeatedly within such a short period, and what does this indicate about organisational stability in the Tripura BJP?
The appointment letters dated August 21, August 31 and October 27, 2026, indicate repeated changes in the leadership assignments of the party’s various Morchas.
The documents reveal the following sequence:
The first order named the following leaders as Morcha in-charges:
Yuva Morcha: Nabadal Banik, State Secretary
Mahila Morcha: Ajanta Bhattacharjee, State Vice-President
ST Morcha: Rebati Tripura, former MP
OBC Morcha: Mimi Majumder, State Secretary
SC Morcha: Tutan Das, former SC Morcha State President
Kishan Morcha: Amit Rakshit, State Vice-President
Minority Morcha: Jashim Uddin, former Minority Morcha State President.
August 31, 2026: Another reshuffle
Barely ten days later, a fresh appointment order brought further changes:
Yuva Morcha: Amit Rakshit, State Vice-President
Mahila Morcha: Ajanta Bhattacharjee, State Vice-President
SC Morcha: Tutan Das, former State President of SC Morcha
ST Morcha: Rebati Tripura, former MP
OBC Morcha: Mimi Majumder, State Secretary
Kishan Morcha: Kamal Dey, State Secretary
Minority Morcha: Asish Paul, former District Vice-President.
This order indicated changes in the assignments of the Yuva, Kishan and Minority Morchas, while several other appointments remained unchanged.
The latest order again revised the appointments:
ST Morcha: Bipin Debbarma, State General Secretary
SC Morcha: Chandan Debnath, State General Secretary
OBC Morcha: Tapas Majumder, State Vice-President
Mahila Morcha: Bhagaban Ch. Das, State General Secretary
Yuva Morcha: Mimi Majumder, State Secretary
Kishan Morcha: Kamal Dey, State Secretary
Minority Morcha: Md. Jashim Uddin, former State President of Minority Morcha.
The latest list represents a significant reallocation of responsibilities. Several leaders named in the earlier orders have either been replaced or assigned to different Morchas.
The frequency of the changes has raised questions about the criteria used to select Morcha in-charges and the process through which these organisational decisions are being made.
Morchas are important components of the BJP’s organisational structure.
