The Tripura School Education Department has issued show-cause notices to three government school teachers over alleged violations of service conduct rules, including allegations relating to private coaching activities for candidates preparing for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET-I and TET-II).

The notices, issued by the District Education Officers (DEOs) of South Tripura and Sepahijala districts, directed the teachers to submit written explanations within three days of receiving them. Further action will be considered in accordance with the applicable service rules and departmental procedures, officials said.

The cases involve Subrata Dutta, a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) at Paikhola Higher Secondary School in Belonia, South Tripura; Monirul Islam, a Graduate Teacher at PM SHRI Baidyadighi Higher Secondary School in Sepahijala district; and Nityananda Das, a teacher at Uthai Mog Para SB School in South Tripura.

Dutta has reportedly received a show-cause notice in connection with a video circulated on social media. The matter concerns an alleged violation of the conduct rules applicable to government employees. The specific allegations and the circumstances surrounding the video are to be examined through the departmental process.

In the other two cases, Islam and Das have reportedly been issued notices over allegations that they conducted private coaching, tuition classes and mock tests for TET-I and TET-II aspirants in exchange for payment.

The department has sought explanations from the teachers, giving them an opportunity to respond to the allegations and present their respective positions before any further decision is taken.

The teachers’ replies will be examined by the competent authorities. If the explanations are found unsatisfactory, the department may consider further action under the applicable service rules. Any disciplinary proceedings, if initiated, will have to follow the prescribed procedures.

The matters are currently at the show-cause notice stage. The issuance of the notices does not, by itself, establish the allegations against the teachers. Any decision on disciplinary action will depend on the explanations submitted and the material examined by the department.

The department is also expected to examine whether the alleged activities violate the service conduct rules governing government employees. Depending on the findings and the applicable provisions, further disciplinary measures, including suspension, may be considered by the competent authority.

There was no immediate information available on whether the three teachers had submitted their replies to the notices.
