Fire accident in Mohanpur market, marketing co-operative society’s show-room gutted causing big loss

In a massive fire accident the main showroom of the Mohanpur Primary Marketing Co-operative Society was gutted late last night in the heart of the Mohanpur market . The fire had been ignited last night, presumably by electric short-circuit. Sources from Mohanpur said that a group of morning walkers early this morning caught sight of smoke billowing from within the showroom of the marketing co-operative society and reported the matter to the police and fire brigade authority.

The fire brigade authority rushed to the spot and opened the shutter to find that the entire stock of garments stored in the marketing co-operative society had been burning. Bu that time police from the Sidhai police station as well as the manager of the Society Haradhan Das also reached the spot. It was with good deal of effort on the part of Fire Brigade and local people that the fire was doused.

Speaking to media persons the manager of the Primary Marketing Co-operative Society, Haradhan Das said that the fire had damaged garments including ‘Sarees’ worth Rs 10/11 lakhs. He suspected that the fire might have been triggered by electrical short-circuit as other shops and show-rooms beside the gutted Society show-room were intact. However, police sources said that the reason behind the fire would emerge from the ongoing investigation.
